Organizational Context and Scope

The Comitato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo dei Popoli (CISP) (International Committee for the Development of People) is a NGO established in 1983 in Rome, Italy and currently operating in 30 countries in various parts of the world. CISP has been operating in Ethiopia since 1986 through relief, rehabilitation and development projects. In collaboration with various local partners CISP is actively implementing projects in Ethiopia in the area of humanitarian assistance, agriculture, food security, livelihood, DRR, WASH, education, Youth and Women Development and other social development projects.

CISP in partnership with PC (Pastoralist Concern- Local NGO) proposes to address the immediate needs of people affected by conflict, drought and desert locust in Moyale woreda of Dawa Zone, Somali region in the sectors of Education, Livelihood/livestock and nutrition. The overall objective of the project is to support conflict and drought affected students, IDPs and Host Communities in dignity and sustains life by offering safe spaces for learning, access to protection and livelihood in Dawa zone. The project is funded by UNOCHA-EHF.


  • Participate in and develop annual, quarterly and monthly implementation plans for nutrition component of EHF Moyale Project,
  • Prepare and submit periodic nutrition reports with the donor and government formats,
  • In collaboration with other project staff develops clear monitoring and evaluation plan and tools,
  • Organize and facilitate capacity building training to government health professionals on Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies (IYCFE)
  • Organize and facilitate training to community volunteers and food distribution agents on IYCF-E and COVID-19 prevention methods 
  • Organize and facilitate training to HEWs on MAM and SAM management to build the capacity of health workers and local health system to effectively identify, admit and manage cases of SAM and MAM at health facility level,
  • Support the woreda and zone health offices in mobilization of community
  • volunteers and food distribution agents for identifying malnutrition cases through MUAC and supporting health extension workers in tracing defaulters.
  • Strengthening and support the woreda and zone health offices to conduct monthly mass screening using MUAC for malnutrition case identification among under 5 children and PLWs for program enrollment.
  • Monitor the school feeding program and ensure health and quality of the meals,
  • Participate on the regular nutrition cluster meeting at national and regional levels and other nutrition-related engagements  when assigned by the supervisor,
  • Ensure that the donor compliance and CISP’s rules and regulations are strictly followed during day to day program operations,
  • Work closely with other thematic officers and program managers to ensure coordination,
  • Participate in recruitment and follow up of CMAM Nurses to be assigned in health posts, in temporary basis, to provide technical support in active case finding at community level (MUAC screening) and promotion, protection and support of adequate IYCF practices.
  • Support health extension workers and community volunteers on data capturing and reporting practices,
  • Organize and participate in training to health workers on health and nutrition information management: data collection, recording, analyzing, documenting and reporting,
  • Conduct other assignments as per the assignment of his/her supervisor,

Duty station: Addis Ababa – with frequent field trip 

Contract Duration

: Six month with possible extension 

Line of responsibility:

 responsible to the Country Program Manager and comply with the Area Coordinator

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • BSc Degree in Health Officer, Nursing, Nutrition, Health Promotion from recognized universities, 


  •  A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in project implementation and management position in nutrition, health or related technical areas.
  • Open, creative, experienced, mature, responsible, flexible, culturally sensitive, energetic, interested
  • Knowledge of donors policies and guidelines specially EHF
  • Good stress management in tense and difficult environment
  • Proven ability to work in a team, with good communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to motivate community leaders, health extension workers, AEWs 

Desirable: Experience of managing donor (s) funded projects; NGO experience and Knowledge of local language (Somali), culture and context.
