Our client, is a private limited company engaged in import/ export business house that sells and rents heavy earth moving equipment such as dozers, loaders, excavators, and as well as small home use and construction equipment such as generators, water pumps, vibrators, etc..

Job Purpose

Ensure that all import & exports are documented correctly. Ensure that export laws and regulations for export consignments under diverse payment terms are adhered to. Submit timely document directives to independent surveyors and freight forwarders to necessitate timely processing of exports.

Key Accountabilities

  • To prepare and maintain the paperwork associated with the trading and shipment of goods.
  • They create and obtain approval for orders, and also document cost data and invoices.
  • As shipments come and go, they manage warehouse inventory levels to ensure that space is used effectively and efficiently.
  • Import/export document coordinators liaise with both staff and customers to coordinate the delivery of goods, and also ensure that all government and organizational policies are followed.
  • This is particularly important when shipping heavily regulated products, such as agricultural goods.
  • An import-export clerk has a wide range of duties that deal with each step of the shipping process.
  • To track shipments and communicate with clients about the packages’ progress.
  • To coordinate shipping with customs agents for clearance on overseas deliveries.
  • To provide efficient delivery logistics through data management.
  • To fill out import-export documentation, compile carrier and route assignments, compute international fees for each shipment, and keep track of shipment payments and quotas.
  • To ensure that the shipment adheres to customs regulations.
  • Track shipments and work with clients on reducing duties owed.
  • Documenting shipments to ensure that they are in compliance with customs rules and regulations.
  • Counsel clients on matters like tariffs, insurance, and quotas.
  • Determine how much insurance to take out on the shipment.

Required Qualifications  

  • Experience in Transportation, warehousing, or distribution of goods.
  • Thorough understanding of Ethiopia’s government rules, regulations and requirements for the Import/Export sector.

 S​pecific work experience, knowledge and skills required 

  • Thorough understanding of the Ethiopian market.
  • 4 years’ of relevant Experience in Import/Export Documentation officer.
  • Must be able to communicate in English and Amharic (Written and Oral). .
  • Experience using computers for a variety of tasks.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
