Operation Manager

Our client is looking for an operation manager to join their team. If you haven been working on project management in rural development programs, like to work closely with youth and multiple stakeholders then this is the job for you.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Activity Planning, implementation, and budget management
    • Contribute to the development and approval of work plans and assist in the design and effective and efficient implementation of the extension system.
    •  Contribute to the development and approval of work plans.
  • Field Staff Management 
    • Ensure efficient collaboration between field staff and ensure field staff have a thorough understanding of the project purpose and objectives.
    • Monitor and evaluate field staff performance and assess areas of capacity building needs.
  • Supervision and compliance
    • Closely monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of project activities and assist in the design and implementation of the Internal Control System.
    • Ensure compliance with organizational, regional and national standards and guidelines
  • Stakeholder relations
    • Liaise with Government authorities at federal, regional and woreda level on project purpose, approach and activities.
    •  Participate in steering committee meetings and other meetings as requested by management.
    • Assist in the dissemination of information generated by the project to stakeholders. 
  • Reporting
    • Report to the Project Manager in a timely and efficient manner on a monthly basis and additionally as required by him.
    •  Produce progress reports on a quarterly basis and submit them to project management.
    • Report back to field staff any feedback on the progress reports and any relevant organizational information.
  • Perform any other duties that may from time to time be assigned by the Project Manager.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in a related discipline (Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Forestry, Environment)

Experience:

  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Good understanding of rural development initiatives.
  • Experience in managing projects, preparing annual work plans, managing budgets, monitoring implementation and staff performance.
  • Know-how in agricultural value chains, agricultural extension and in farmer outreach.
  • Understanding of youth and gender inclusiveness
  • Experience in dealing with national, regional and local authorities, and stakeholders in general.
  • Experience in working within a consortium with multiple partners.
  • Experience in capacity building and mentoring of staff.
