Country: Ethiopia

Closing date: 30 May 2021

Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) is launching an International Open Tender and invites interested candidates to participate in the procurement procedure for: “Joint NCA & SC Programme to end Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and Child, Early and Forced Marriages (CEFM) in Ethiopia: An Accompanied and Formative Impact Research Evaluation”.

Short background: Child, early and forced marriage (CEFM) and female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C) are two forms of gender based violence (GBV) that affect millions of women and girls in Ethiopia. These harmful practices are violations of human rights. They are also a cause and a consequence of gender inequality. In addition to the health (physical and emotional) consequences, the continuation of these practices affects girls’ educational attainment, have serious economic implications for the affected girls and women, as well as negative effects on their participation in productive sectors.

Recognizing that these practices pose serious physical, mental and psychological consequences for women and girls, Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) and Save the Children (SC) have, for more than 10 years now, collaborated to implement a joint programme to end these harmful practices. The current joint programme is a five-year intervention titled “Accelerating and cementing change towards the total abandonment of all forms of FGM and Child marriage”.
