The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH looking for Expert for the Study for the Establishment of an IGAD Center for Cross-Border Cooperation and Borderlands Development Mechanism (ICCBDM)”
The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) in Eastern Africa was created in 1996 to supersede the Intergovernmental Authority on Drought and Development (IGADD) which was founded in 1986 to mitigate the effects of the recurring severe droughts and other natural disasters that resulted in widespread famine, ecological degradation and economic hardship in the region.
IGAD, with the support of GIZ, is looking for a consultant who will be able to conduct a study aiming to define the strategy to be implemented in order to operationalize the establishment of IGAD Center for Cross-Border Cooperation and Borderlands Development Mechanism (ICCBDM) which will allow to better manage the coordination of the different programs conducted by IGAD in borderlands. Detailed ToR for the assignment is attached.
Period of assignment: From July 8th, 2021 until December 31, 2021 for up to 60 expert days.
Eligible candidates should have the following qualifications:
- MSc in organizational development, international law or geopolitics in one or more of the relevant fields: border management, cross-border cooperation, regional integration, migration.**
General professional experience:
At least five years of experience in cross-border cooperation / borderlands development
Experience in organizational development
- business fluency in English, speaking French or any language spoken by an IGAD country is an asset.
