Study on Employment Creation and Decent Work Impacts of the Africa Continental Trade Agreement (AfCFTA)
The Regional Office for Africa of the International Labor Organization (ILO) launches a tender notice for the selection of a company for a study on Employment Creation and Decent Work Impacts of the Africa Continental Trade Agreement (AfCFTA)
The objective of the assignment is to review the AfCFTA in terms of its foreseeable impact on employment creation and decent work. Aligned with the decent work agenda, gaps, challenges, and opportunities that could support a vital discourse by ILO constituents should be identified, that may support the implementation of the AfCFTA in line with the ideals of decent work and to the benefit of tripartite constituents.
III. SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of work is mainly at two levels. The first concerns labour provisions and the other looks at the AfCFTA’s potential to create jobs.
ROAF will engage a firm that can assure the following skills and attributes to be represented:
a) Sophisticated economic modelling techniques, with a focus on employment and labour market effects;
b) Proven experience to develop synthesis reviews and secondary data analysis/literature review;
c) Has superior knowledge of both the decent work agenda and the AfCFTA. Experience of working on other decent work in relation to other trade agreements would be highly desirable.
d) Sound knowledge of ILO conventions and recommendations,
e) Sound knowledge in the area of trade and regional integration
f) Ability to respect deadlines and deliver work of quality;
g) The team leader must hold a PhD in economics, trade policy, labour studies, or any other related areas, from an internationally recognised university. Team members should hold MSc degrees in related areas.
