This is an exciting time to be joining WFD, we are now looking to recruit an experienced Programme Coordinator to support the development of a new programme based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Programme Coordinator

Contract length: November 2020 31 October 2021

Start Date: Immediate

Contract type: Full-time Fixed Term Contract for Service

The Programme Coordinator (PC) will play an active role in developing WFDs programme in Ethiopia.

WFD is looking to strengthen its delivery team (currently based in London) by engaging a PC in-country. The PC shall be critical in leading the day to day delivery in-country, and implementation of this programme, serving as dedicated focal point to the House of Peoples Representatives and WFD programme and support teams in Head Office. The programme is 12-months with expectation to begin implementation as soon as possible.

The PC Ethiopia will report to the Senior Programme Manager Africa in the UK and will be interacting and liaising with Members of Parliament and potentially other members of senior parliamentary leadership, as part of programme activities and delivery.

A key task for the PC will be to identify relevant activities that will become part of the programmes implemented by WFD and to co-ordinate activities with other organisations. The PC will provide administrative and logistical support in organising various events and meetings with relevant Stakeholders. They will also be required to prepare and disseminate project documentation, assist in the preparation of the narrative and financial reports, finance, and administration, collecting monitoring and evaluation data and communicating project successes and achievements

The core skills and experience we are looking for are;
  • Extensive project management, administration, evaluation, monitoring experience
  • Financial and budget management experience competent using Excel and producing financial reports
  • Knowledge of the local parliamentary system, political background and the challenges of democracy in the country.
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Proven experience producing and presenting proposals and reports
  • Fluent in spoken and written English and one or two local languages
  • Credibility and confidence in communication and networking
  • Degree level in a relevant discipline
  • Ability and confidence to multi-task in an international environment
