Background

Advancing Decent Work and Inclusive Industrialization in Ethiopia is a comprehensive and coordinated ILO response to a need expressed by the Ethiopian constituents and other key industry stakeholders to advance decent work and inclusive industrialization in key priority sectors identified in the Second Ethiopian Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP II). The government of Ethiopia is cognizant of the need to protect fundamental rights and principles at work while pursuing ambitious development goals. It also recognizes that in order to translate that commitment into reality it needs to strengthen the capacity of the labour inspectorate to achieve sustained compliance with national and international labour norms.
