Abt Associates seeks candidates for the USAID-funded Health Financing Improvement Program that seeks to strengthen the health financing functions and systems to support universal health coverage of quality primary health care services for Ethiopian citizens. Program work includes increasing domestic resource mobilization, streamlining pooling of risk-sharing/insurance mechanisms, facilitating strategic purchasing of health services, and improving governance, management and evidence-generation for health financing reforms and health facilities.

We are recruiting for a Program Assistant for our regional office located in Dire Dawa.

Position description: The Program Assistant will provide administrative and programmatic support to the project’s technical team working in the Dire Dawa, Somali, and Afar regions. Tasks include: managing project files, correspondence, and telephone operations; assisting with administrative management of consultancies/sub-awards/sub-grants and with local procurements; and providing logistical support for project events and travel.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field Minimum of 2 to 3 years of relevant professional experience in programmatic and administrative support. Experience in operations and/or logistics is highly desirable. Understanding of USAID administrative procedures and requirements is a plus. Fluency in Amharic and solid English skills, plus proficiency in a regional language is required.
Applicants must be local or willing to relocate to the assigned region/city, if selected.
