Job Title: Finance Advisors
Reports To: Finance and Admin Manager
Place of Assignment: Addis Ababa (With frequent travel to project areas)
Number of Vacant Position: Two

Employment period for position 1: April 1 2019 – October 31, 2019 (Temporary not renewable)
Employment period for position 2: April 1, 2019— December 31, 2020(May be renewable)

Position Purpose:
The finance advisor ensures the integrity of accounting information by verifying, consolidating, recording transactions and by establishing quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
The finance advisor shall assist in conducting financial monitoring and capacity building of the partners funded by the Development of Fund.

Key Roles and Responsibility:
A. Finance routines
  • Prepares vouchers and payroll sheet;
  • Records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analysing account information.
  • Reconcile general ledgers, post journal entries, and assist with the preparation of financial statements
  • Prepare schedules for quarterly reviews and year-end audit for independent external auditors.
  • Assist external audit by analysing and scheduling general ledger accounts; providing information for auditors.
  • Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls
  • Secures financial information by completing database backups.
  • Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
  • Other duties as assigned.
B. Financial monitoring and capacity building
  • Assist in financial monitoring at both partners’ head office and project area;
  • Assist in delivery of training
  • Review budget application
  • Assist in the preparation of grant agreement with the partners
  • Follow-up grant confirmation
Minimum competencies required qualifications:
  • Must have BA in Accounting
  • MA, ACCA/CA is a plus
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, of which at least 2 years working with audit firms.
  • NGOs experience is a plus.
  • English proficiency
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles
  • All laws, regulation and directives applicable to NGOs
  • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
  • Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines.
  • Analytical skill
  • Communication and report writing
  • Excellent in application of Peachtree accounting software
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
