Health Limited globally trading as Health Poverty Action (HPA) works with some of the poorest and most marginalised communities in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Health Limited has been working in Ethiopia since 2005, primarily with semi nomadic pastoralists in South Omo Zone of SNNPR, in Dollo Ado Woreda of Somali, and in Bale lowlands of Oromia.

Tropical Health and Education Trust (THET) is a global health organisation that has been working to strengthen Health Systems for almost 30 years. THET has worked in Ethiopia for several years, focussing on the decentralisation of NCD diagnosis, treatment and care in Jimma and Gondar.

Project and Monitoring & Evaluation Officer

The incumbent will provide leadership and technical support in monitoring and evaluation for the Ethiopian non-communicable disease project: Increasing access to services through training and capacity building, implemented in partnership by HPA, THET and Novartis.

He/she will establish a data reporting process across 15 primary hospitals and 45 health centres. They will develop patient data collection capacity in each site that can be linked to a central excel based M&E system, enabling the project to capture the number of patients screened, blood pressure, referrals and treatment regimes. He/she will work with the FMoH to integrate this into their Health Management Information System. They will regularly analyse the data and track project progress against targets.

The position is based in Addis Ababa, with frequent travel across the country. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in a clinical science and postgraduate qualification(s) or equivalent in public health, health informatics or a specialty relevant to the job role. They should have a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in monitoring and evaluation of a heath related program or project, clinical medicine and/or public health. Experience in non-communicable diseases and/or HIV/AIDS programmes is desirable.
