Scope:

The Adolescent Girls Programming Officer is directly supervised by the camp manager and technically supervised and reports to the Community Wellbeing Initiative Manager. The Officer is responsible for support to all aspects of Adolescent Girls programming in Benshangul Gumuz refugee camps. He/she will be based in Sherkole or Bambasi camps.
Job Purpose

The Adolescent Girls Programming Officers support a project designed to equip adolescent girls in Sherkole and Bambasi refugee camps and close by local communities with the skills and experiences necessary to make healthy, strategic life choices as well as promote the safety, prevention of and response to violence against adolescent girls.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Participate in assessments, and contribute to the overall intervention strategy based on feedback received from girls throughout the AG programming;

· Strictly adhere to GBV guiding principle while engaging with AG and their parents/care givers;

· Supervise and capacitate local community and refugee mentors formally and informally to provide quality life skill sessions through training, daily mentoring, weekly meeting, and applying regular knowledge and skills assessment tools;

· In collaboration with implementing partners and community leaders, develop a selection criteria of adolescent girls to engage them in life skill curriculum sessions;

· Support in contextualization and adaptation of Girl Shine Curriculum into refugee and local community context;

· Conduct Adolescent Girls Programming related capacity building trainings for mentors, community leaders, implementing partners and parents/care givers;

· Directly engage with adolescent girls and parents as required, and work with mentors to ensure the quality of the program;

· Coordinate with Response Officers when there is a need to provide case management service for adolescent girls;

· Assist in response related IEC and BCC materials, in collaboration with GBV team, ensuring messages are appropriate for the community and conduct pre-testing before dissemination;

· Develop monthly and weekly activity plans for mentors;

· Monitor supply and logistical needs of AG safe space and ensure adherence to all relevant IRC logistic policies;

  • Build a relationship with all relevant GBV program stakeholders, community leaders, and parents/care givers in the camp and local community to encourage greater communication, collaboration and coordination;

· Work closely with local/host community actors particularly with schools, Women and Children Affairs Office, health and legal actors to integrate coordination mechanisms between the refugee and local community program; and Participate in monitoring and evaluation activities including in assessments and surveys.

· Job Requirement

· BA in Psychology, Social Work or related Social Science fields;

· Six years for Diploma holders of relevant work experience and four years for Degree holders y of relevant work experience

  • Related work and field experiences in social service provision with women and girls;
  • Able to maintain protection principle at all times;
  • Ability to communicate in English language;
  • Ability to use MS office, excel, email and PowerPoint applications very well;
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; and

· Able to organize, maintain composure and prioritize work under pressure, able to coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to details.

General Purpose

Responsible for the general accounting function including preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules and ledgers and account and bank reconciliations. Assisting with monthly closings and account analysis and supporting the external accountant in carrying out the responsibilities of the accounting department.

Assistant to Program Manager

The Position: The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) seeks to recruit an Assistant to Program Manager who will be a member of Animal and Human Health Program team in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

General:  The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) works to improve food and nutritional security and reduce poverty in developing countries through research for efficient, safe and sustainable use of livestock. It is the only one of 15 CGIAR research centres dedicated entirely to animal agriculture research for the developing world. Co-hosted by Kenya and Ethiopia, it has regional or country offices and projects in East, South and Southeast Asia as well as Central, East, Southern and West Africa. www.ilri.org.

Job Purpose:                                                                             

The purpose of this position is to assist in the Program Management process; facilitating in the various program activities and ensuring that the operations run smoothly.

The candidate will support research on the One Health Regional Network for the Horn of Africa (HORN) project. He/she will provide project management support and coordination across HORN in Ethiopia, including coordination of personnel, budgets and project outputs.

Main Responsibilities:

Program management

  • Liaise with the relevant stakeholders to gather inputs for the program work plan and collate the same;
  • Assist with data collection and gathering, analysis and management of program documentation;
  • Update and maintain program records including entering information to electronic management information systems and following up on approvals and other issues;
  • Assist in the development of the procurement plan by collating the inputs and liaising with relevant department and completing the necessary documentation;
  • Supervise project admin staff and build their capacity on the ILRI Program Management Framework (PMF) to enhance their performance.

Proposal Development

  • Assist with tracking project proposal development phase activities and progress to ensure necessary activities are completed as per set guidelines and timelines;
  • Facilitate completion of ILRI and partner capacity assessment to determine capacity building needs for support of project priorities by collating information;
  • Enter, update and maintain opportunity pipeline for the program on the tracking system.

Project Planning

  • Supporting in collecting of the necessary documents required in drafting of partner and donor agreements;
  • Collating, documenting and maintaining a register of programmatic risk matters and issues and follow up on the recommended actions to ensure compliance.

Project Execution

  • Maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and facilitate effective flow of information in the program activities;
  • Support with the reporting of project management status by collating the necessary inputs;
  • Work with all project team members to ensure work plans are on track and identify problems before they arise, through regular project team meetings;
  • Assist the principle investigators in oversight of project budgets and tracking project finances to assist the accounting officer in the monthly routine accounting duties.

Project Closing

  • Ensure all documentation and activities for closing projects are as per agreed standards and archiving of the same for future reference;
  • Collate recommendations and learnings into the lessons Learned document.

Academic and professional qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelors’ Degree or Masters’ degree in Business Management, Business Administration or related field Certification in Program Management – desirable

 

Experience:

  • Bachelor degree with 5 years’ experience or Masters’ degree + 3 years’ experience, professional certification

Skills:

  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Good report writing skills
  • Experience in supporting projects with numerous partners
  • Experience in facilitating teamwork and collaboration across multiple functions and organizations

Grade: 2D

Minimum Base Salary:  Birr 24,572 (Negotiable depending on experience, skill and salary history of the candidate)

Terms of appointment:  This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position, initial appointment is for three years with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon individual performance and the availability of funding.
