Pharmaceutical Warehouse and Distribution Specialist

Chemonics International seeks experienced professionals for the USAID-funded Global Health Supply Chain - Procurement and SupplyManagement (GHSC-PSM) project.GHSC-PSMEthiopiawill serve as the primary vehicle through which USAID will procure and furnish health commodities, provide technical assistance to improve the country’smanagement of the supply chain, and collaboratewith key international stakeholders to support global and local health initiatives.

The project is currently seeking qualified Pharmaceutical Warehouse and Distribution Specialist for Central PFSA. The GHSC-PSM Pharmaceutical Warehouse and Distribution Specialist is responsible to coordinate the warehousing and distribution services for health commodities through the Pharmaceuticals Fund and Supply Agency (PFSA) supply chain system in designated locations. S/he co-ordinates the operations of the PFSA/GHSC-PSM storage and distribution teams ensuring all resources are used efficiently and effectively.

The GHSC-PSM Pharmaceutical Warehouse and Distribution Specialist supports PFSA to effectively manage a bi-monthly re-supply of health program commodities for all public health facilities. S/he will support the development of PFSA supply chain capacity and capability and lead GHSC-PSM technical assistance with regards to the development of infrastructure, systems, processes and human capacity which will enable the transition of supply and distribution management activities to PFSA within the life of the existing GHSC-PSM project. Job Requirements:  

Job Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree /Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Logistics or medical laboratory technology.
  • Applicants with medical laboratory technology background are preferred
  • Minimum of four years of experience for advanced degree / six years of experience for Bachelor degree in warehouse and distribution management or related field; USAID experience preferred.
  • Skilled in leading and managing high-performing teams.
  • Proven experience in advising public sector warehousing and distribution operations preferred.
    Demonstrated ability to work with cooperating partners in implementing complex programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the regions of Ethiopia.
  • Fluency in English required.
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity

Job Summary

The Area Sales Manager is a key role  that works close to the market for Ethiochicken and is primarily responsible and accountable for recruiting new agents/growers and support further development of existing agents in the specifically assigned working zone and woredas. The Area Sales Manager Ensures consistent sales growth through appointment and capacity building of agents at each woreda and Kebeles, technical support for agents and management of stakeholders at every level. The position demands high level of professionalism, relationship skill, commitment and motivation as well as requires intensive travel in the territory for monitoring and sales maximization. This position is performed with little supervision and requires initiative, high energy and judgment, consistent hungry for results and to work under pressure.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Planning

·         Develop specific plans to ensure sales growth  and agent appointment in the territory

·         Collaborates with Division Sales Manager and RSM to develop sales strategies to improve market share in all product lines.

·         Map how to achieve sales volume through prioritizing to make big achievement with minimum effort and shorter time.

·         Accurately forecasts annual, quarterly and monthly sales targets for his specific zone.

·         Plan promotion activities in the territory working with central marketing team

·         Plan to reach all woredas with agent coverage in his specific area. 

Sales activity

·         Achieve sales volume of DOC and poultry & cattle feed in the region.

·         Own and manage the VPDA distribution system and DA incentive system; works for the success of the system

·         Help on developing channels for feed distribution.

·         Increase number of DOC agents in the specific territory.

·         Work with zonal and woreda gov’t officials to ensure 45 days chicken off take from agents

·         Communicate information on competitors’ products for pricing and product.

·         Implement  promotional and public relations activities developed by marketing team

·         Follow-up on all sales opportunities within a timely manner.

·         Conduct ongoing market assessment and recommend any required change in tactics and strategies.

·         Carry out any other duties as requested by your Line Manager and other senior management team

Team Development

·         Lead, manage and motivate the sales representatives to achieve and exceed targets and KPI’s through support and supervision, training and coaching.

·         Assists sales personnel in establishing personal contact and rapport with top echelon decision-makers in the government structure.

·         Identify skill/knowledge gap of sales team and coordinate to provide training

Monitoring and Evaluation

·         Make frequent travel to woredas to expand market and sales growth

·         Holds regular meeting with WCs and guide how to win in the market

·         Reviews progress of sales roles by woreda/zone.

·         Provides monthly  results assessments of WCs productivity

·         Track agents  performance against leading indicators, continually reevaluating partnerships

·         Make regular travel in the woredas and get first hand market dynamics and provide supportive supervision for WCs and agents.

·         Bring to the attention of operation manager any matters which are considered to be rectified immediately of any complaints on feed quality, above standard mortality of chickens.

·         Track and report on VPDA and Woreda coordinator performance on weekly basis

Government relation

·         Develop good working relationship with key sector government officials and professionals along with Division Sales Manager.

·         Represent the company on all sector related meeting and activities

·         Have updated government regulations policies and directive which affects our business

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

·         Exceeding volume growth targets

·         Help at launching poultry and cattle feed through appointment of distributors

·         Increased order size and optimized purchase cycle on DOC.

·         Established strong and reliable agents which drive our business and start to deliver to farmers by themselves.

·         Recruit, trained and deployed vibrant WCs who derive sales function

·         Develop strong relationship with  sector government structure which support our business

·         Attain highest score (4/5) on customer service index.

·         Achieve 15 chickens per VPDA six months after implementing

Major Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day to day coordination and management of outreach workers and food disturbers at field level
  • Compile data and information and accordingly report the progress to the senior project officer
  • Identify and refer children from the distribution sites to OTP or SC sites
  • Record, monitoring status data such as weight gains and feeding of children in the program
  • Fostering good relationships with community, community elders, community leaders and other health personnel to encourage good information sharing
  • Refer sever children who are under the SFP program to the OTP when necessary
  • In coordination with community outreach workers and food distributors, provide education to the community members on nutrition and health related issues
  • Involve in nutrition surveys as well as in other concern task when necessary
  • Record and keep admission, discharge and death data to be submitted every two weeks
  • Make sure that all equipment and materials kept clean and safe

  • Diploma or above in health and nutrition related fields with Minimum 4 years’ relevant experience
  • Good written and spoken English as well as local language
  • Reporting and documentation ability
  • NGO experience in an emergency or  refugee project is an advantage

JOB PURPOSE:

To implement the emergency nutrition programme as per in-country protocols and international standards

 Main Duties & Responsibilities (Including Training Role):

  • Ensure, that the OTP/SC components of the  emergency nutrition project is of good quality and is reaching international standards for performance with support from the project manager
  • Co-ordinate, manage and support  the outreach work of government Health Extension Workers to implement the government run OTP/SC services according to national guideline, international standards and  Concern policies
  • Support staff development through coaching and mentoring to enhance the capacity of project and MoH staff
  • In collaboration with MoH staff,  facilitate  SAM management  training to health centre / health post staff
  • Ensure the continual availability of food, medicine, and other supplies required for the project in the identified Woreda and ensure its proper management, including ordering, storage, and monitoring
  • Ensure  weekly and monthly reports are submitted to the project manager using appropriate format
  • Ensure and support the Woreda Health Office (WoHO) staff in reporting,recording and supply management of OTP and SC programmes
  • Ensure the OTP and SC programme to run through the existing MOH structure
  • Monitor and ensure quality of TSFP implementation
  • Ensure referrals and linkage between the TSFP and OTP/SC CMAM components
  • Facilitate and participate regularly at Woreda level health and nutrition taskforce meetings to be chaired by the Woreda health office and/or Disaster Prepardness and Prevention Office/DPPO
  • Ensure good collaboration and participation of WoHO and other relevant local agencies
  • Conduct frequent joint supervision visits to OTP, SC and TSFP sites with Woreda health office and other government sectors as needed
  • Participate in nutrition and coverage surveys and other assessments as needed
  • Liaise with health centre and health post staff on the planning, implementation and monitoring of OTP and SC in their locations
  • Facilitate proper management of OTP/SC stocks by MOH counterparts; monitor rates of consumption and ensure supplies are ordered  in timely manner
  • Prepare monthly progress reports and any other required documentation for submission to the Project Manager
  • Report any problems in a timely manner to the Project Manager
  • Perform any other duties appropriate to the position as assigned by the Project Manager

 

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • BSc Degree in Public Health/Nursing with minimum of three years or Diploma in clinical nursing five years relevant experience
  • Profound experience in CMAM, particularly SAM management
  • Computer literate
  • NGO experience in emergency projects is an advantage
  • Good communication and report writing skills
  • Good negotiation skill with government and other agencies

Required

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written English.
  • Good interpersonal skills and team player with sensitivity to cultural diversity
  • Ability to work under pressure

INTRODUCTION

 

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), an international non-governmental organization (NGO), has been providing relief and development services in the Horn of Africa since 1997. DRC promotes and supports solutions to the problems faced by refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs), and migrants. The organization has offices across the region, and has been operational in Ethiopia since 2009.  With funding from bilateral and multilateral donors, DRC is currently implementing a range of activities across Ethiopia and Djibouti, including WASH and shelter provision, child and youth protection, gender based violence response, awareness-raising of migration risks, protection monitoring of migration routes, and livelihoods support for returning migrants or those at-risk of migration.

 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

Support and maintain the organization’s internal and external communications and visibility initiatives in compliance with donors and DRC policies and priorities.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

 

  • Assist the field teams to ensure compliance with donor visibility requirements.
  • In collaboration with the various field teams, coordinate and lead the development and procurement of visibility materials.
  • In collaboration with the field team, collect case stories, human interest stories, project facts and other context relevant information for communication purpose.
  • Develop communication materials, including social media posts, articles, short videos and photo series.
  • Participate in reviewing and editing information, education and communication materials as well as internal reports and research pieces.
  • Collect and compile program information for an internal newsletter and facts sheets.
  • Participate in field visits to conduct interviews and take photos for internal and external communications pieces.   
 

Job Requirements

PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS

REQUIRED

  • At least one year of relevant academic experience required. Additional professional experience an added value.
  • BA Degree in communications, journalism, language and linguistic, literature or related field

 

Education: (include certificates, licenses etc.)

  • BA Degree in communications, journalism, language and linguistic, literature or related field

Languages: (indicate fluency level)

  •   Excellent verbal and written proficiency in Amharic and English

Climate Change Extension Expert

Agri Service Ethiopia (ASE) is a non-governmental Ethiopian Resident; not-for-profit development organization established in 1969 and is working in rural Ethiopia on integrated food security, value chain development, climate change and natural resource conservation and community empowerment programs.

Job Summary:  The Climate Change Extension Expert (CCEE) leads the design, detailed implementation planning (DIP), and implementation of climate change and resilience interventions under the Livelihoods for Resilience project. In consultation with supervisors and in close collaboration with team members, the CCEE leads monitoring, evaluation and periodic reporting of assigned elements of Livelihood for Resilience’s climate change adaptation component, in line with ASE approaches and long-range strategic plan. The CCEE provides technical support for the development and implementation of climate smart technologies and innovations, strengthening of human and institutional capacity for climate change adaptation. S/he works with relevant PSNP implementing institutions to ensure those livelihoods implementations, and the livelihoods strategies adopted by households and communities in five woredas of Hadiya zones are climate resilient.

Description of Major roles and responsibilities

  • Trains Development Facilitators & community animators in the promotion of diversified livelihoods activities and income sources, to strengthen adaptive and transformative capacities and mitigate shocks;
  • Leads and engages in Participatory Scenario Planning (PSP), selection, planning and management of IGAs, and risk aware business planning;  
  • Provides guidance to DFs who in turn support VESAs in developing their CCA action plans and monitor implementation;
  • Supports the community in developing community-based climate change adaptation mechanisms;
  • Jointly develops annual work plan and helps create budgets to ensure effective implementation of Livelihoods for Resilience action plans related to climate change adaptation and resilience;
  • Supports PSNP households in identifying climate change adaptation and resilience strategies to build assets and steadily decrease their vulnerability to disaster risks over time;
  • Leads climate vulnerability and capacity assessment and social action and analysis (SAA) to identify climate risks and existing adaptation strategies, and provides follow-up support for adaptation activities;
  • Assists the value chain and livelihood experts in climate screening for value chain commodities, conducting an analysis of value chain constraints as related to climate change vulnerability;
  • Collects, documents and shares lessons learned and results of the implementation of climate change and resilience activities;
  • Contributes to the preparation of quality reports as required by USAID and counterparts;
  • Maintains and establishes contacts among local partner organizations, government offices and private sector;
  • Contributes to the development/improvement of participatory monitoring and evaluation as well as documentation and sharing of lessons on CCA and resilience;
  • Actively participates and contributes in Livelihoods for Resilience quarterly donor reporting;
  • Documents efforts on CCA, VESA discussions, pilot technologies, and community CCA action plans.
  • Performs other duties assigned by the Field Office Manager.

About us: The British Council provides access to English Language and other UK qualifications through its Examinations Services. Qualifications and examinations are one of the most powerful drivers of improvements in teaching, learning and professional practice.     The British Council Examinations Services administers a wide range of UK exams on behalf of UK based Exam Boards and awarding bodies. These include English proficiency exams such as IELTS, Cambridge English and Aptis, school exams such as IGCSE, O and A levels for Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and Edexcel International, a range of professional and university qualifications such as ACCA (accounting).

In Ethiopia, we run exams in Addis Ababa and Mekelle    

As an Invigilator, you will be part of a wider team of exams venue staff expected to support the delivery of a variety of tests in various locations. You will be required to work very closely with British Council Examinations Services staff, other venue staff and venue service providers to ensure the test days run smoothly.      Main Accountabilities:   
You will be accountable for maintaining the integrity and reputation of the British Council and the various examination boards by ensuring that tests are delivered to prescribed standards for customer service, security and administration. You will also be accountable for promoting a positive image of the British Council by providing a high standard of customer care on the test day.        Programme/service support   ▪ Report promptly to test venue at agreed time. In case of any delays or if unable to get to the test venue, inform the appropriate test day or British Council Examinations Services staff in a timely manner.  ▪ Follow all relevant standards & procedures, based on training and reference materials provided by the British Council Examinations Services and the relevant Exam Boards.  ▪ Be familiar with the emergency procedures for the test day venue.  ▪ Invigilate examinations to the standard required by the British Council Examinations Service and the relevant Exams Boards.  ▪ Actively monitor candidates during tests to make sure that there is no violation of test conditions.  ▪ Support the supervisor to ensure that candidates have a positive and consistent test day experience and a positive image of the British Council.  ▪ Ensure all material is accounted for and handed over securely to the supervisor.  ▪ Complete and maintain accurate records of exam assignments. Complete all reports, logs and claims accurately as required by British Council Examinations Services. ▪ Follow all relevant guidelines and policies in the areas of: Data Protection, Child Protection, Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities and Diversity, and Anti-Fraud.  ▪ Report any incidents, emergencies or breaches of security to the appropriate test day supervisor.  ▪ Work with the test day supervisor to promote and ensure the well being of candidates at all time. In case of emergencies, follow correct procedures.  ▪ Additional duties in line with the role may be required.        Customer support    ▪ Enable good customer flow by giving candidates clear direction and answering their enquiries.  ▪ Ensure that candidates follow the agreed exam procedures regarding the location and security of their belongings.  ▪ Conduct candidate entry, exit, identity checks and Test Day Photography procedures according to exam requirements.  ▪ Ensure special arrangements are provided as required        Training and development:    ▪ Attend all briefing and training sessions as requested by the British Council Examinations Services Centre.  ▪ Complete all mandatory training modules: Data Protection, Child Protection, Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities and Diversity, Anti-Fraud, Identity Checks as required.      Other important features or requirements of the job:  ▪ Some invigilators may be required to travel, including overnight stays. The majority will not have this requirement. Job Purpose:

The purpose of the Publishing Services Manager position is to ensure that ILRI publishing processes and workflows are well-managed to produce publications and other outputs on time and to agreed standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  •  

    Supervises and mentors assigned staff, providing regular performance feedback and support designed to facilitate professional development, learning, innovation and effective teamwork;

  •  

    Engages with research programs to ensure ILRI’s editorial and publishing services are delivered to the highest standards, and tailors innovations in the editing field to enhance the quality of the products;

  •  

    Working closely with ILRI editors, coordinates the production of ILRI publications (pipeline, workflows, distribution…), providing cost estimates and deadlines for ILRI scientists and support staff, and liaises with the curation team to ensure external publications are captured and archived on the institute’s repository;

  •  

    Manages and maintains relations with external consultants and service providers (editors, designers, graphic artists, photographers, printers, translators and videographers), ensuring the timely delivery of high quality products on behalf of ILRI and its programs;

  •  

    Where required copy edits, edits and proofreads publications to agreed standards and guidelines;

  •  

    In close collaboration with the ILRI senior communications officer, supports the unit and programs, where required, by producing written and other communications products for ILRI blogs on research products and events;

  •  

    Identifies impact publication(s) from programs for inclusion in higher profile corporate opportunities (publications, events, etc.);

  •  

    Contributes to the development of ILRI style guide and other standards and procedures which enhance the quality and efficiency of the work;

    Manages and supervises resources assigned to the publishing and information services units in Addis Ababa, and oversees the activities of the Addis Ababa infocentre;

Academic and professional qualifications:

Education:

    At least Bachelor degree, preferably a masters’ degree in a relevant field, for instance journalism, communications, international relations, political science, etc.

Experience:

    At least 7 years of experience for BSc degree and 5 years’ experience for Masters’ degree and working in a busy editorial or communications department, editing and copying materials for publication, preferably with experience managing processes and people, and/or knowledge of international development issues
