Global Health Supply Chain – Procurement and Supply Management Ethiopia

Panagora Group, a woman-owned, small business providing novel and integrated solutions in global health and international development, seeks a Communications Specialist to support the project’s knowledge management and communication activities in Ethiopia.

Background

The purpose of the Global Health Supply Chain– Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC- PSM) Ethiopia Program is to ensure uninterrupted supplies of health commodities in support of United States Government (USG)-funded public health initiatives in Ethiopia. The project provides direct procurement and supply chain management support to the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) and Population and Reproductive Health. In supporting USG-funded global health activities, GHSC-PSM will develop and manage a wide array of services for health commodity procurement and related systems strengthening technical assistance encompassing different elements of a comprehensive supply chain management initiatives in collaboration with FMOH, PFSA and other partner organizations.

GHSC-PSM Ethiopia supports country strategies and priorities that fall under the following three project objectives:

  • Health commodity procurement and logistics,
  • Systems strengthening technical assistance, and
  • Global and local collaboration to improve long-term availability of health

Purpose

The Communications Specialist will report directly to the USAID GHSC-PSM Knowledge Management/M&E Director and is responsible for the implementation of the program communications strategy, internally and externally, and compliance with USAID communications requirements for GHSC-PSM in Ethiopia.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of the project’s communications and knowledge exchange strategy;
  • Set as needed internal and external communications standards, guidelines, processes and protocols;
  • Work closely with the M&E and technical teams to identify data, stories, and articles for communications materials;
  • Stay informed of all major issues in the Ethiopian health sector and of GHSC-PSM strategies and methods, programs and activities, results and achievements, and on best practices, lessons learned and success stories so that project communication is rich, diverse and well grounded.
  • In collaboration with Technical Director, Team Leaders, and other technical personnel, draft or edit, finalize and ensure the publication and dissemination of written materials and website content on the project, health system and needs of the Ethiopian population.

    • Materials and content may include abstracts, reports, presentations, brochures, articles, press releases, speeches, briefings and update notes, blog posts, and social media content.
  • Ensure compliance with all contract requirements (including branding and marking) that relate to reporting (such as the Quarterly and Annual Progress Reports) and draft program statements describing connections between implementation and results for submission to the Chemonics USAID/GHSC-PSM leadership team, FMOH, PFSA, and USAID.

  • Collaborate with technical component leaders to vet reports and success story narratives.

  • Manage distribution process of communications material so the right information gets to the right audiences at the right time.

  • Provide support to the project leadership in maintaining effective communications with USAID, FMOH, PFSA, other partner organizations, and stakeholders, including timely response to requests for information.

  • Assist the Country Director and other Directors with managing media

  • Provide strategic and programmatic advice on communications and knowledge exchange to project leadership to strengthen program design, work plans and implementation.

  • Oversee the management of the project’s photo and video library as well as of the project’s institutional memory to ensure that information and materials are easy to access.

  • Work closely with the home office on campaigns, annual reports, and other USAID/GHSC-PSM communications Provide new and/or updated written material for Chemonics websites, newsletters, and social media.

  • Exhibit Chemonics values and build culture of “Living our Values” within the team

  • Understand and adhere to established policies and procedures and promote them throughout GHSC-PSM staff

  • Carry out additional responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by supervisor of record

Job Qualifications

  • BA/Master’s degree in communications, public health, knowledge management, international development or related
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar communications role, within international development
  • Experience living or working in developing and transitioning
  • Experience working in international public health programs strongly
  • Technical experience interacting with USG (especially USAID), including three years of experience working with USG-funded
  • Proven ability to organize, summarize, and rewrite technical information for non-expert
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills (writing samples will be requested), facilitation and negotiating
  • Experience facilitating workshops and trainings in communication
  • Familiarity with social
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and use good
  • Proven ability to work effectively in teams in a multi-cultural context.
  • Familiarity with current USAID branding guidelines.
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity

Level of Effort and Location

This long-term position will be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with intermittent travel throughout the program’s target regions as needed.

Organizational Context

Organizational Context

The Driver position falls under direct supervision of Adm/Finance Associate. The incumbent is responsible for up keep and maintenance of the assigned UNHCR vehicle(s) as per technical guidance and specifications established by the organisation. He/she is required to follow strict instructions and security guidance provided by the supervisor. While basic function of a Driver is to drive the official vehicles of UNHCR, he/she may be called upon to perform minor maintenance and repair of UNHCR vehicles.

 

The incumbent has regular contacts with staff within UNHCR office and with service providers outside UNHCR involving a limited exchange of information.

Accountability

  • Assigned UNHCR vehicles are properly maintained and equipped as per technical guidance and specifications established by the Organisation.
  • Local traffic rules and regulations are strictly observed. 
  • Instructions and security guidance provided by the supervisor and security focal point are strictly followed by the Driver and the passengers during the journey.

Responsibility

  • Drive UNHCR vehicles for the transport of authorized passengers and delivery and collection of mail, documents, UNHCR pouch and other items.
  • Meet official personnel at the airport and facilitate immigration and customs formalities as required.
  • Perform day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicles; check oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc. and ensure that the assigned UNHCR vehicles are road worthy and maintained up to the established security standards.
  • Perform minor repairs and arrange for other repairs and ensure that the vehicle is kept clean.
  • Ensure that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accident.
  • Log official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Authority

  • Drive the vehicle only when his/her safety or security is not at risk.
  • Ask the passenger about the destination of the journey and route.
  • Decline to drive passengers not authorized to be in a UNHCR vehicle.

 

Job Requirements:  

Essential Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Completion of Primary Education or equivalent technical or commercial school.
  • Minimum 2 years of previous job experience relevant to the function.
  • Driving licence, knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair.

Organizational Context

The Protection Assistant normally reports to the Protection Officer or the Senior Protection Officer.  Depending on the structure of the Office, the position may also report to senior national staff. The incumbent provides functional and administrative support to the protection unit on protection related liaison, correspondence, monitoring, case management and reporting activities.  

The Protection Assistant also supports the protection unit in designing a comprehensive protection strategy and in providing quality, timely and effective protection responses to persons of concern. The Protection Assistant also facilitates the involvement of persons of concern with the Office in making decisions that affect them, whether in accessing their rights or in identifying appropriate solutions to their problems. Job summary: As Specialist, PDP Compliance, you will Conducts frequent (planned and surprise) monitoring visits to CRS Primary Distribution Points (PDP) ensuring that commodity management at PDPs is conducted in accordance and compliance with USAID Food for Peace (FFP) and CRS rules and regulations. Qualification & Skill

Work experience;

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

 

Technical responsibilities

  • Primary focal person for all energy interventions in DRC Fafan Zone;
  • Provide technical advice to the mapping and identification of appropriate energy saving stove solutions, such as bio mass stoves, ensuring their production, installation, training and follow-up on their proper use;
  • Provide technical advice for the manufacturing/ repair, proper installation and smooth operation of streetlights, technical efficiency of solar kiosks and other related fields;
  • Empower local authorities, communities and other stakeholders to manage energy-related issues and provide sustainable resource management and environmentally friendly energy.
  • Develop and implement surveys and need assessments in refugee and host community areas in collaboration with field team and other stakeholders;
  • Organize and implement training for communities as per identified needs.

 

Program management responsibilities

  • Prepare, regularly review, and implement the activity plan for energy provision, as per requirements under the RDPP projects;
  • In collaboration with DRC’s area management and procurement team, prepare and implement procurement plans for the timely delivery of activities;
  • Regularly monitor and evaluate the projects performance, provide timely inputs, feedback and impact of the DRC Energy interventions in Jijiga refugee camps and its hosts;
  • Support the Area Manager in preparing and implementing of annual and quarterly work plans;
  • Ensure the application of humanitarian principles and DRC’s Code of Conduct and commitments under the Core Humanitarian Standard in all actions and activities;
  • Ensure equal participation by all segments of the community, taking into consideration issues regarding gender, age, disability and clan affiliation;
  • Provide monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to DRC and partners as per agreed formats.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Supervise 1-2 field assistants and monitor team performance and activity;

 

Representation and coordination

  • Represent DRC at relevant energy related forums/ meetings;
  • Support the linkages between local authorities with local energy provision organizations;

Job Requirements

REQUIRED

 

  • First Degree or equivalent in electrical engineering, urban planning, or other relevant field;
  • Minimum two years’ experience delivering sustainable energy solutions (bio energy, solar energy, natural resource management, and similar) preferably in rural/refugee hosting areas;
  • Minimum two years’ experience working in community development, refugee assistance and/or community mobilization;
  • Experience of working with Non-Governmental organizations
  • Good spoken and written English; Somali language skills is an advantage;
  • Prior experience implementing energy saving activities, livelihoods or resource management related programs in refugee settings is an advantage;
  • Experience working with local government organizations, planning and implementing capacity building activities, is an advantage.
  • Good communication skills( English and Somali languages) and ability to conduct trainings and meetings;
  • Understanding of gender, protection and human rights;
  • Well-developed computer skills;
  • Good organizational and people management skills:
  • Ability to represent the organization and influence people.

The brand ‘Ambo’ is an icon of Ethiopia by which we all are proud. The company has the following vacant positions to be filled either from internal or external applicants who found to be capable. Therefore, candidates who aspire growth and are prepared to work with passion and focus are invited if they fulfill the minimum criteria as demanded hereunder:

Area Sales Manager

First Degree in Marketing Management/ Management/ Economics/Business Administration or related field of studies with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in sales and marketing of which 1 year on supervisory position Or Diploma (10+3/Level IV) in Marketing/Salesmanship/Business Management/ Economics/Accounting with minimum of 4 years’ experience as company Sales representative in the company

Place of work: Addis Ababa & up country
